SAP Fioneer FPSL Architect/Consultant - Jersey City, NJ - Onsite - NO REMOTE

Role Summary

The SAP Fioneer FPSL Banking Consultant will be responsible for hands-on functional configuration, implementation, testing, and deployment of SAP Fioneer Financial Products Subledger (FPSL) for banking products. The consultant will translate approved finance and accounting designs into FPSL configurations, support integration with source systems and SAP S/4HANA Finance , and ensure accurate subledger postings in alignment with IFRS 9 and local GAAP requirements .

The role requires strong knowledge of banking products, event-based accounting, subledger accounting, integration, reconciliation, and financial reporting. The consultant will work closely with Finance Leads, Solution Architects, Product Control, Risk, Core Banking, and Integration teams throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
1. FPSL Functional Configuration Banking

• Configure and implement SAP Fioneer FPSL functionality for banking products, including:
  • Loans and Advances
  • Deposits
  • Money Market Instruments
  • Securities / Bonds, where applicable
• Configure FPSL objects including:
  • Contract Types and Contract Attributes
  • Event Types and Event Processing
  • Posting Schemas
  • Accounting Determinations
• Support configuration of:
  • Valuation Areas
  • Subledger Accounting Layers
  • Accounting Principles
  • Ledgers
• Translate approved business and accounting requirements into functional FPSL configurations.

2. Accounting & IFRS 9

• Implement FPSL accounting logic aligned with IFRS 9 , including:
  • Amortized Cost (AC)
  • Fair Value through Other Comprehensive Income (FVOCI)
  • Fair Value through Profit or Loss (FVTPL)
• Support Effective Interest Rate (EIR) calculations, accruals, amortization, fees, and charges.
• Configure and validate accounting treatment for:
  • Initial Recognition
  • Accruals and Amortization
  • Derecognition
• Work with Finance Leads and Solution Architects to validate accounting outcomes at both contract and GL levels .

3. Source System & S/4HANA Integration

• Support inbound integration from:
  • Core Banking Systems
  • Treasury Systems
  • Trading Platforms
• Validate event payloads, contract attributes, mappings, and data enrichments.
• Support outbound integration from FPSL to SAP S/4HANA Finance / Universal Journal .
• Validate:
  • GL Account Derivations
  • Document Splitting
  • Posting Completeness
  • Accounting Consistency
• Collaborate with technical integration teams to troubleshoot interface and data issues.

4. Testing, Reconciliation & Defect Resolution

• Prepare and execute:
  • Unit Testing (UT)
  • System Integration Testing (SIT)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Regression Testing
• Perform financial reconciliations across:
  • Source System vs. FPSL
  • FPSL Subledger vs. SAP GL
• Analyze and resolve:
  • Posting Errors
  • Accounting Mismatches
  • Integration Defects
  • Data Validation Issues
• Support parallel runs, legacy subledger reconciliation, cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities.

5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Prepare functional deliverables including:
  • Configuration Documents
  • Functional Specifications
  • Test Scripts and Test Evidence
  • Data Mapping Documents
  • Reconciliation Documents
• Participate in functional workshops and solution walkthroughs.
• Provide knowledge transfer and support documentation to client teams.
• Support go-live readiness, deployment, and post-production stabilization.

Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory

• 4 8 years of experience in banking finance, accounting systems, or financial systems implementation.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Fioneer FPSL , preferably in a banking environment.
• Practical experience integrating FPSL with SAP S/4HANA Finance .
