Senior SAP Basis Migration Specialist for BW/4HANA, BODS and Datasphere

ERP transformation program focused on improving global operations. It helps streamline processes, align practices, and use digital solutions to increase productivity and collaboration across the Organization.

General scope of work:
This position reinforces the ERP Project's capacity in technical planning, pre/post-migration configuration, and integration support during the migration from SAP BW 7.5 on-premise to SAP BW/4HANA Private Cloud. While base infrastructure upgrades and core platform installations are handled directly by the SAP Private Cloud team, this consultant will support and deliver migration tasks, application setups, BODS upgrades, cloud analytics connectivity, and hybrid cloud integrations with the existing ERP infrastructure.

Reporting to the ERPSD staff, the specialist will support the following major work areas:

? Coordinate BW/4HANA conversion preparation, technical execution, and validation phases alongside the ERPSD Data and SAP private cloud team using In-place and Remote strategies.
? Lead the technical migration, platform re-architecting, and upgrade of the enterprise data integration layer from on-premise BODS 4.3 to cloud-hosted BODS 2025.
? Support ERPSD Data team in establishing secure, high-performance integration and cross-network application interfaces (BODS/SLT) for both SAP and non-SAP environments.
? Redesign and implement connectivity and integration of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere public cloud solutions with BW/HANA and BODS 2025 systems hosted in the private cloud.
? Provide Tier 3 advanced technical support to troubleshoot complex application-level Basis, database administration, and infrastructure incidents.

Specific task areas:

? SAP BW/4HANA Technical Migration and Conversion Execution:
? Lead the technical conversion from SAP BW 7.5 on-premise to BW/4HANA Private Cloud, managing application-level pre-requisites and post-conversion phases.
? Support the execution of migration tools, driving system transformations via BW/4HANA Transfer Cockpit utilizing In-place and Remote conversion methodologies.
? Install, configure, and maintain the SAP BW/4HANA Starter Add-on (BW4HANA) and core components (DW4CORE) on the source BW 7.5 systems to facilitate system transformation tools.
? Setup, and configure on-premise analytics staging systems utilizing production database copies to validate conversion paths prior to cloud deployment.
? Plan and execute technical dress rehearsal exercises (Mock Runs) to establish runtime baselines and validate end-to-end migration runbooks.
? Analyze, fine-tune, and optimize the technical migration strategy (including uptime/downtime parameters) to minimize application downtime during the production cutover.
? Support project testing cycles, perform deep-dive performance optimization, and provide swift resolution for all migration-related defects, bugs, and transport issues.
? Coordinate directly with the SAP Private Cloud team to align system copies, transport management system (TMS) definitions, and landscape synchronizations.
? SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS) Upgrade and Connectivity:
? Lead the technical migration and upgrade of the enterprise data integration layer from BODS 4.3 on-premise to BODS 2025 in the Private Cloud environment.
? Apply strong BODS Basis engineering practices to design, configure, and maintain the BODS repository structure, job servers, and access server architectures.
? Support ERPSD Data team in setting up multi-point connectivity solutions, and data store definitions for application residing in the S/4HANA Private Cloud as well as on-premise, spanning both SAP and non-SAP platforms.

SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere Integration Architecture:

? Redesign and establish end-to-end secure connectivity of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) instances with underlying BW/4HANA systems and native HANA EE databases.
? Setup and support SAC Live Data Connections, Import Data Connections, and advanced SAC expert performance features.
? Install, setup/configure, and maintain the SAP Cloud Connector infrastructure specifically for SAC traffic and connections.
? Lead the technical setup and infrastructure support of SAP Datasphere, including the installation and tuning of the SAP Datasphere Integration Agent (DS Agent).

Enterprise SAP HANA DB Administration and BPC Support:

? Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for SAP HANA DB administration across the analytics landscape, executing database-level performance tuning and memory management for heavy data warehouse workloads.
? Provide dedicated Basis engineering and operations support for integrated analytical modules including SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) and the setup of Excel EPM Add-in client software (desktop and Citrix).

Tier 3 Advanced Technical Support (for BW4HANA, BODS, SAC and DataSphere systems):

? Provide expert Tier 3 support for complex application Basis, BODS, HANA database, and cross-network infrastructure integration incidents.
? Perform deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA) for application performance bottlenecks and short dumps throughout all migration phases.

SAC CORS and Azure Single Sign-On (SSO) Implementation:

? Design and implement enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) by integrating BW/4HANA, SAC with Microsoft Azure AD/Entra ID.
? Configure SAP HANA Web Dispatcher and XS Engine CORS settings for SAC Live Data Connections.

Qualifications and experience:
? Minimum 12 years of specific experience in SAP Basis and SAP Systems engineering technical work (SAP BW/BPC, BW/4HANA, HANA EE, BODS, DataSphere and SLT).
? Hands-on engineering experience executing migration preparation, data replication, and post-go-live configuration on at least one full lifecycle legacy SAP BW 7.5 to BW/4HANA migration project using both In-place and Remote conversion strategies.
? Specialized in BODS Basis administration, with verified experience steering legacy BODS environments through modern upgrades to cloud-hosted versions (e.g., BODS 2025).
? Minimum 5+ years of specialized experience in SAP HANA database administration,
? Demonstrated technical proficiency establishing modern enterprise hybrid analytics landscapes utilizing SAP Cloud Connector, SAC Live connections, and SAP Datasphere (including DS Agent provisioning).
? Proven experience in system sizing, performance optimization, and connecting application layers with hardware components.
? Working knowledge of VMWare and Linux operating systems (SUSE or RHEL).
