Material Handler II

The Material Handler II plays a key role in receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products within a warehouse and distribution environment. This position ensures inventory accuracy, supports quality control activities, and safely operates powered industrial equipment to load and unload shipments. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow standard operating procedures, and effective coordination with team members and other departments to meet daily operational goals in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming materials and products, verify quantities and documentation, and ensure accurate recording in warehouse management and inventory tracking systems.
• Store materials and products in designated locations, following departmental standard operating procedures and organizational guidelines.
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for distribution, ensuring accuracy in item selection, quantities, and labeling.
• Load and unload shipments using powered industrial equipment such as forklifts and order pickers, following all safety protocols.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by performing regular counts, reconciliations, and documentation updates in warehouse management systems.
• Conduct quality control activities to ensure materials and products meet established standards before storage or distribution.
• Use computers and scanning equipment to track inventory movements, update records, and support real-time visibility of stock levels.
• Follow cGMP and other relevant warehouse and distribution procedures when applicable to ensure compliance and product integrity.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all material handling, documentation, and system entries.
• Work independently to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems related to material flow and inventory discrepancies.
• Collaborate and coordinate with team members and other departments to meet daily operational targets and deadlines.
• Constantly stand and move around the department, frequently walking, stooping, bending, and reaching to handle materials and complete tasks.
• Lift, carry, pull, and push materials weighing approximately 4070 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds regularly, using proper lifting techniques.
• Operate powered industrial trucks, including forklifts and order pickers, in a safe and efficient manner within the warehouse environment.
• Adhere to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements, including wearing safety shoes and eye protection.
• Support general labor and packaging activities as needed to ensure smooth warehouse and distribution operations.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in distribution, warehouse, supply chain, or a related field.
• Proficiency in all aspects of distribution operations and departmental standard operating procedures.
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking software.
• Ability to operate powered industrial equipment safely, including forklifts and order pickers.
• Preferred experience with powered industrial trucks such as cherry pickers and stock pickers.
• Preferred experience working in a cGMP environment.
• Preferred experience with computers and scanning equipment for inventory tracking and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling materials, packaging, and documentation.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and write clearly to follow instructions, complete documentation, and use warehouse systems.
• Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds regularly and to carry, pull, and push 4070 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle materials safely.
• Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures, including cooler rooms used for storage.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous warehouse experience is preferred.
• Previous forklift experience, preferably with cherry pickers or stock pickers, is preferred.
• Experience with inventory activities such as material handling, general labor, packaging, and inventory control is beneficial.
• Comfort working with noise from equipment and machinery in a warehouse or distribution center setting.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with team members and other departments.
• Reliability in meeting schedules and supporting occasional Saturday work as needed or requested.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and distribution center environment that is generally temperature controlled, with some rooms maintained at cooler temperatures for storage. The setting may include exposure to noise from equipment and machinery and requires consistent adherence to safety protocols. Personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and eye protection, is required. The workday involves constant standing and movement throughout the department, with frequent walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. The environment is fast-paced, with multiple tasks and deadlines, and relies on warehouse management systems, inventory tracking software, computers, scanning equipment, and powered industrial trucks such as forklifts and order pickers. Standard shifts run Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday work as needed or requested.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
