Position Title:MRI Technologist - Oklahoma Children's Hospital - 4 x 10 shiftDepartment:Pediatric RadiologyJob Description:General Description:The MRI Technologist I position is an entry‑level role that, under direct supervision, performs routine MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines, and quality standards.Essential Responsibilities:Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Care is delivered under appropriate supervision across a variety of settings.Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician‑ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.Safely administers contrast per protocolDemonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.Carries out operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.Accurately document in EMR/PACSActively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.If trained and verified in Cardiac MRI, the following responsibilities apply:Acquire standard cardiac imaging sequences including: LV function imaging, Short-axis cine stacks, basic morphology and functional assessmentsApply ECG gating techniques including: retrospective gating, prospective gating, real-time imaging as indicatedTroubleshoot basic ECG signal issuesRecognize common rhythm patternsGeneral Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Level I:Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or ARMRIT orCompletion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.Experience: No prior MRI experience required.License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.ARRT(RT) or ARMRIT certification required within 12 months of hire.Minimum Qualifications Level II:Education: Associate's Degree required.Experience: At least 3 years of MRI experience required.License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.ARRT(RT)(MR) or ARMRIT certification is required upon hire.Minimum Qualifications Level III:Education: Associate's Degree required.Experience: At least 5 years of MRI experience required.License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.ARRT(RT)(MR) or ARMRIT certification is required upon hire.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic radiologic technology concepts, and MRI‑related terminology. Applies core MRI theory, practices, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post‑processing, analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non‑clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomyKnowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.If trained and verified in Cardiac MRI, the following knowledge, skills and ability requirements apply:Proficiency in breath hold coaching, patient positioning, cardiac anatomy identificationKnowledge of cardiac MRI contraindicationsKnowledge and understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology.Current OU Health Employees - Please click HERE to login.OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
