Field Installation TechnicianWe are a Hudson Oaks, Texas-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) delivering High Speed Internet and Voice Services throughout multiple states to residential, business, K-12 Education and government customers. We believe there is much more to an internet company than just delivering cost-effective internet solutions; we believe in delivering an overall customer experience that our competitors simply cannot match.The Field Installation Technician requires excellent customer service skills and technical ability. The position requires completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, and recovery of equipment. Work is performed on site at customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing Internet equipment.Essential Functions:Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.Install new customers with Internet service based on technology available, which includes mounting equipment at or above roof height, running Cat5-E or Fiber Optic cable from outside to the customer's desired location.Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.Perform equipment upgrades for existing customersPerform other duties as assignedSkills:Must be professional in dress, speech, and manner.Ability to work independently, using sound judgement principles.Must demonstrate accountability in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.Must demonstrate a desire to learn, supported with a love for technology.Must pass a drug screening test, a criminal background check, have and maintain a valid DL with a safe/acceptable driving record in compliance with company policy.Must be able to use tools to install equipment.Work Environment/Hazards:Working in outdoor elements such as cold, hot, precipitation and windIn proximity of heavy machinery and moving vehiclesModerate noise levelUse of PPEPhysical Demands:Frequently moving, transporting, positioning objects of at least 60 pounds or moreMust be able to climb roof tops of all types and to perform job duties from high places.Must be able to pull own body weight plus equipment weight up roofs and vertical tower repeatedlyFrequently required to stand, walk, stoop, sit, and climb ladders and communication towers and work in an elevated positionFrequently required to use hand and power toolsMust have the ability to climb extended heights upwards of 200 feetEmployee weight and tools combined may not exceed 300-pound limit as specified by the manufacturer of safety equipment.Working Hours/Days:40 hours minimumOvertime as neededOn Call as neededAffirmative Action (AAP/EEO Statement):Nextlink is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
