Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for delivering safe and effective patient care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within their scope of practice, directing and guiding patient and family education, as well as supervising other nursing personnel while maintaining high standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, assessing patient needs and responding to changes in clinical condition.
• Communicate with physicians regarding patient status, including hemodynamic monitoring and diagnostic study results.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and health promotion.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintenance of it.
• Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance of it.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
• RN-C certification within 2 years of hire preferred.
• PALS certification within 30 days of hire for units admitting pediatric patients.
• NIHSS Certificate.
