Patient Services StaffThe primary focus of the Patient Services staff is to provide exceptional patient care and promote practice success throughout each function of the position, ensuring all patient and exam information is correct for posting, verifying and maintaining accurate reporting, and delivering positive patient communication.Location: Unity Eye Center, Norfolk, NEWhat We Offer:Starting wage will be determined based on experience6.5 paid holidays per yearApproximately 8 days of PTO within first yearFull benefits portfolio to include health, dental, vision, and 401kGrowth and wage increase through company paid certification programEssential Responsibilities:Uphold the Unity standards through exceptional customer serviceGreet patients in a friendly, professional mannerEfficiently process patients through check out by verifying chart documentation and insurance information, accepting and posting payments, preparing and filing clean claims, authorizing insurance and billing, scheduling referrals, and accurately entering corresponding data into EHRPerform end of day tasks, including balancing cash drawer, processing daily deposits, verifying/correcting data from identified reports, and submitting End-of-Day packet to manager for verificationMonitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delaysRespond to patient inquiries about billing, procedures, policies and available servicesEvaluate and support implementation of new technology and equipmentProvide a safe and clean office environmentMaintain compliance with the organization's confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Monitor Unity processes to ensure compliance with the organization's policies and with the guidelines set by relevant regulatory agenciesDemonstrate a commitment to Standards of CarePerform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Practice Manager and doctor(s)Supplementary Responsibilities:Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHRRespond to patient inquiries regarding medical procedures and medication regimensEducation and/or Experience:High school graduate, or equivalentAbove average knowledge in health science, math, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)Previous medical office experience and knowledge in medical coding/billing is preferredCompetencies:Proficient in EHR, including exceptional keyboarding skillsAbility to accurately process insurance claims, and ensure proper reporting to BillingExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsDetail oriented with strong organizational skillsAbility to obtain knowledge and skills on the job or through educational coursesA strong commitment to helping peoplePolite, professional, and courteousAbility to lead, motivate and promote a team environmentProactive, adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure to accomplish projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environmentReport for scheduled work shifts in a dependable and timely fashion pursuant to Unity attendance policyEnvironment and Physical Demands:Constant walking and standing; frequent bending, stopping and reachingStrong sensory skills such as good eyesight, good hearing, and dexterityBehaviors:Preferred:Detail Oriented:Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done wellEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
