Staff Python Engineer

Seeking an experienced Staff Python Engineer for a remote independent contractor engagement, who will design and deliver backend features in Python for large-scale enterprise SaaS while managing and optimizing data pipelines for analytics and visualization. Key responsibilities Design and implement backend features and data models for high-volume sensor data processing Provide technical guidance and architectural input across backend initiatives, ensuring compliance with best practices Build reliable APIs and integrations that maintain consistency between systems under various operational conditions Required qualifications 10+ years of professional software development experience with Python and Django Proven experience with large, complex backend SaaS applications Strong skills in modeling complex data systems and delivering scalable solutions Hands-on experience supporting production code and iterating based on customer feedback Familiarity with Celery, RabbitMQ, and TimescaleDB/Athena is a plus
