Intera-Incorporated-1
Description INTERA is seeking a Geoscience Technician to join our Austin office and support groundwater, environmental, geophysical, and subsurface characterization projects throughout Texas and the western United States. Working closely with senior geophysicists, geologists, hydrogeologists, and engineers, you will manage, organize, analyze, and visualize the geoscience datasets behind our technical interpretations, maintaining data quality, developing visualizations, and preparing project deliverables. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude who enjoys working with geospatial, geologic, geophysical, and environmental datasets as part of a multidisciplinary team. Subsurface data skills transfer readily across sectors, and we welcome candidates who have developed those skills in oil and gas and are looking to apply them to groundwater, environmental, and water-resource projects. Position Summary Responsibilities will include data compilation and management, GIS mapping, borehole data processing, geophysical log management, figure preparation, database maintenance, quality control reviews, and development of technical visualizations. The position is primarily office-based, with occasional opportunities for field support. The role offers opportunities to gain experience with groundwater, geophysical, environmental, and geologic investigations while working alongside experienced technical professionals. Key Responsibilities Geoscience Data Management Compile, organize, maintain, and quality-check geologic, hydrogeologic, geophysical, environmental, and water-quality datasets. Manage large project databases and ensure data integrity, consistency, and traceability. Import, validate, and organize digital and raster well logs, geophysical datasets, groundwater monitoring records, laboratory results, and related technical information. Assist with the development and maintenance of standardized data-management workflows and project databases. Support the integration of datasets from clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and public sources. Geophysical Interpretation Support Provide technical support to senior geophysicists during the processing and interpretation of geophysical datasets. Prepare and identify quality geophysical logs for local and regional projects to support efficient subsurface investigation workflows. Assist with the organization and quality control of geophysical survey data. Support the digitization and standardization of geophysical logs and subsurface datasets. Assist in preparing data products used for geologic, hydrogeologic, and geophysical interpretation. GIS and Visualization Create and maintain GIS databases and project maps. Prepare publication-quality figures, maps, cross sections, dashboards, and graphical exhibits for reports, presentations, and proposals. Perform spatial analysis, data visualization, and geospatial quality control. Support the development of web-based maps and data-visualization tools when applicable. Data Analysis and Technical Workflows Process and analyze geologic, geophysical, groundwater, and environmental datasets using industry-standard software. Assist with preparing datasets used in groundwater modeling, geophysical interpretation, and environmental investigations. Develop and improve data-processing workflows using Excel, ArcGIS, and Python or a comparable scripting language, with support to build Python proficiency over time. Generate summary statistics, charts, tables, and visualizations to support technical evaluations. Technical Reporting Support Prepare figures, appendices, tables, and supporting documentation for technical reports and client deliverables. Assist project teams with technical presentations, proposal materials, and project documentation. Perform data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews and support internal quality-assurance procedures. Maintain organized project files and documentation. Field and Project Support Provide occasional support for drilling, borehole logging, groundwater monitoring, geophysical surveys, and field investigations. Assist with collecting, organizing, and processing data from field activities. Coordinate technical data transfers among project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
