Manager, Machine Learning Engineering

Salary: $189,308 - 389,753 per year Requirements:

• We require an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• We look for experience leading and contributing to large-scale production systems in recommendations, e-commerce, search, or ads, built on advanced machine learning and big data technologies.
• Strong background in recommendation systems and applied machine learning is essential; experience with natural language processing and computer vision is a plus.
• You should be able to define and drive a strategic roadmap for scalable, production-ready systems from idea through delivery.
• We need a strong product mindset with a clear focus on user experience in a consumer-facing environment.
• Minimum 1 year of people management experience leading a high-performing machine learning engineering team of 10 or more members.
• At least 8 years of software development experience with a track record of delivering meaningful business impact.
• Nice to have: familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Copilot, Codex, or similar tools for development, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
• Nice to have: experience using LLM-based productivity tools for documentation search, experiment review, SQL or data exploration, and speeding up engineering workflows.

• We own major surfaces across search, recommendations, notifications, and related areas for more than 500 million monthly active users.
• We work on ML-driven retrieval, multi-domain ranking, L1 modeling, candidate generation, sequence modeling, relevance modeling, and infrastructure scalability and efficiency.
• We develop a deep understanding of our product and shape the team vision so our work advances company goals.
• We manage, coach, and support a team of machine learning engineers, while identifying staffing needs and hiring strong talent.
• We partner closely with other engineering groups to improve the user experience across the platform.
• We provide senior leadership with clear visibility into the teams global impact.
• We collaborate with product management, data science, and design to influence the future of our content ecosystem and personalization.
• We build a culture of technical excellence and deep expertise within the team.
