A Senior Automation Engineer / Robotics Engineer / Applications Engineer is required for an engineering business specialising in industrial automation, robotics and manufacturing technology.
The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for integrating, commissioning and supporting advanced automation equipment within manufacturing environments across the US.
This position would suit an experienced robotics or automation engineer who enjoys hands-on technical challenges, working directly with customers and taking responsibility for delivering engineering projects on-site.
The role offers exposure to robotic integration, software development and manufacturing automation, combining practical engineering with customer-facing technical support.
Senior Automation Engineer / Robotics Engineer / Applications Engineer Benefits:
- $90,000 - $120,000 base salary.

The Senior Automation Engineer / Robotics Engineer / Applications Engineer Role:
- Install, configure and commission industrial automation and robotic systems within manufacturing facilities.
- Integrate robotic equipment into existing production processes, ensuring successful operation.
- Diagnose and resolve software, mechanical and integration issues during commissioning.
- Work with industrial robot platforms such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA and Universal Robots.
- Support technical evaluations, feasibility assessments and customer demonstrations.
- Provide technical guidance and operational training to customer engineering and production personnel.
- Work alongside commercial and engineering colleagues to support the delivery of automation solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and communicate engineering progress with relevant project stakeholders.
Senior Automation Engineer / Robotics Engineer / Applications Engineer Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics integration or similar engineering applications within manufacturing.
- Experience as a Senior Automation Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Applications Engineer, Robotics Integration Engineer or similar position.
- Strong hands-on experience integrating and commissioning industrial robotic systems.
- Experience programming or working with industrial robots, including FANUC, ABB, KUKA
- Working knowledge of Python programming and CAD software.
- Proven experience delivering automation equipment into live production environments.
- Ability to work independently at customer sites and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 50%+ across the US.
- Based in Michigan or willing to relocate.
Desirable Experience:
- PLC programming or integration.
- Industrial machine vision or vision-guided robotics.
- Technical demonstrations, feasibility studies or pre-sales engineering support.
