Bakery Assistant

As a Bakery department coordinator, you’ll work with a team across all areas of the bakery, to deliver incredible service and prepare fresh, great tasting bakery items for our customers. Possess an understanding of the products offered in the department Maintain the overall appearance of the department, ensure fresh product and levels are sustained, items are well-merchandised in innovative, eye-appealing displays and stocked in correct locations, while recognizing seasonal, holiday and weather effects on product sales Proactively approach customers, assist them in locating products throughout the department, provide suggestions for meal solutions, and answer any questions they may have about products Understand how products look/smell at peak of perfection, ensure use of production guides, job aids, core recipes, and techniques to provide a consistent and quality outcome Assist in ordering and inventory processes, utilizing order guides to help control inventory and shrink Required Qualifications Customer service experience Preferred Qualifications Experience ordering products and controlling inventory Experience working in a bakery At Wegmans, we’ve always believed we can achieve our goals only if we first fulfill the needs of our people. Managerial/supervisory experience living our values and achieving results in our 5 measures; Experience working in a Bakery; Store Operations Customer Service experience; Experience ordering products and controlling inventory; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as medium to heavy. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. Upper extremity repetition is moderate and trunk movement involves moderate to moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors and involves exposure to various work environments, including cold (33 – 55 degrees), freezing (-20 – 20 degrees) and hot temperatures (exceeds 85 degrees with work surfaces or equipment that exceeds 135 degrees).
