Role Description The Department Manager is a full‑time, on‑site role based at the Grocery Outlet store in La Verne, CA. This role oversees daily operations within an assigned department, including merchandising, inventory management, pricing, and product presentation to ensure a clean, well‑organized, and customer‑focused environment. The Department Manager leads and schedules department staff, provides coaching and training, and supports a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellent service. Responsibilities include monitoring sales and margins, implementing company promotions, maintaining accurate signage, and ensuring compliance with store policies and regulatory requirements. The Department Manager collaborates with store leadership to meet performance goals, resolve issues, and support a positive shopping experience for all customers. Qualifications Experience in retail or grocery department management, including day‑to‑day operations, merchandising, and inventory control. Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to train, schedule, and guide team members in a fast‑paced environment. Strong customer service and communication skills, with a focus on building positive interactions and resolving concerns effectively. Basic math, cash handling, and problem‑solving skills, with comfort using point‑of‑sale and inventory systems. Ability to work on‑site in La Verne, CA, including standing for extended periods, lifting and moving products, and following safety procedures. High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in grocery, discount retail, or a related field is preferred.
