Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse — Travel Contract Position Overview
Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Nurse
Location / Facility: Mount Nittany Medical Center (Pennsylvania)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details: 12-hour Evening shifts (10:45–23:15 and/or 14:45–03:15)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Position Urgency: Normal
Patient Triage & Flow: Perform rapid, accurate triage for patients of all ages (neonate to geriatric), determining care priorities based on physical and psychosocial needs. Conduct proactive hourly department rounding and half-hour waiting room checks.
Care Delivery & Management: Develop, continuously update, and execute dynamic nursing care plans in alignment with Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards and facility protocols.
Emergency Intervention: Rapidly recognize changes in patient status, manage acute complications, and direct safety-focused interventions.
Patient & Family Education: Provide comprehensive health education regarding treatments, discharge instructions, and health status referrals, ensuring documented comprehension.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience.
Charting Preference: Prior experience with EPIC electronic health record systems is heavily preferred.
State License: Current, active Pennsylvania RN license (in good standing).
Life Support Certifications:
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers
AHA ACLS for Healthcare Providers
AHA PALS for Healthcare Providers
Specialized Certifications: Valid NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills with a highly professional demeanor.
Exceptional emotional resilience, even temperament, tact, and sound judgment when managing high-stress emergency environments.
Proven ability to function seamlessly as an interdisciplinary team member and patient-staff liaison.
