Materials Handling Attendant

Receives, inventories, stocks, issues, handles, cleans and distributes all supplies/equipment used throughout West Virginia University Hospitals and Physician Office Center which are the responsibility of Materials Handling.

Core duties and responsibilities include responding to requests for centralized equipment, supplies and accessories, performing transactions on the Department/System ERP platform, processing returns from customers, maintaining high quality customer service, inspecting for bio-burden, cleaning, disinfecting/wiping and preparing for re-distribution of centralized pumps and equipment, monitoring real time locator system to assist in timely retrieval and support patient needs, coordinating with nursing and other hospital staff to locate centralized equipment, inspecting Code Carts to ensure that each cart and all accessories are functional and in good order, maintaining accurate inventory stock in Code Stretcher Luggage/Bags, and EZIO Kits, installing disposable supplies and accessories, performing regular inspection/testing of applicable equipment, serving as initial contact for all centralized equipment inquiries, maintaining work areas in a clean, neat and orderly fashion, and functioning as the resource person for training new Equipment Handling Attendants.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 60 pounds and pushing loaded carts weighing in excess of 600 pounds, manual dexterity and physical ability to stand, walk and handle equipment/materials for prolonged periods of time, and visual and oral acuity.

Working environment includes the ability to work in a high stress environment.

Skills and abilities include the ability to read, write and understand English, math skills necessary to count, inventory and convert each/box/case quantities, excellent communication skills, understanding and practicing excellent personal hygiene, and an excellent customer service attitude.

Additional job description includes a shift from 2pm-10:30pm, rotating holidays and weekends, scheduled weekly hours of 40, and being classified as a non-exempt position in the United States of America.
