Matches is a new restaurant in Greenpoint, and we're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Night Porter to join our team. You'll be the last one in the building each night, and the reason the kitchen is spotless and ready when the morning crew walks in.
What you'll do
- Deep clean the kitchen after service: floors, drains, walls, hoods, and equipment (ranges, flattops, fryers, ovens)
- Clean and sanitize prep surfaces, walk-ins, reach-ins, and dry storage
- Wash, sanitize, and put away remaining dishes, pots, and smallwares
- Clean the dining room, bar, and restrooms; restock paper goods and soap
- Break down boxes and take out trash, recycling, and compost
- Filter or change fryer oil and dispose of it properly
- Clean floor mats, sweep and hose the sidewalk and back areas
- Follow the nightly, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists and sign off on each task
- Report maintenance issues, pest activity, or safety concerns to the chef
- Lock up and secure the building at the end of the shift
What we're looking for
- Experience as a porter, dishwasher, or commercial cleaner preferred but not required
- Dependable and punctual, and comfortable working alone overnight
- Able to follow a checklist and hold a high standard without supervision
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling and NYC DOH sanitation standards a plus
- Able to lift 50 lbs and to stand, bend, and work on your feet for a full shift
Schedule and pay
- Full-time or part-time, 3-4 nights per week, approximately 4pm–3am
- $18–$20 per hour, based on experience
