Location Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118. Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses. Job Summary The Casual Labor Event Services position supports the planning, coordination, setup, execution, and breakdown of large-scale university events that celebrate the spirit and traditions of the University of West Georgia. This role provides hands-on operational support for high-profile events such as Winter West Wonderland, Commencement Ceremonies, Presidential and University Advancement events, and other university-sponsored programs. The position works closely with the Director of Event Services and campus partners to help ensure successful event execution, organized event spaces, and meaningful guest experiences. Responsibilities include assisting with event logistics, preparing event venues, arranging tables and chairs, moving event supplies and equipment, supporting live event operations, and breaking down event spaces following programs. The Casual Labor Event Services position requires a dependable, service-oriented individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment and adapt to changing event needs. Assignments may vary based on university event schedules and operational requirements. In addition to event operations, the position may assist with research and benchmarking related to event planning, hospitality, guest experiences, and innovative event strategies. This may include researching industry trends, identifying best practices, exploring potential event experiences and partnerships, and compiling information to support the development and improvement of university events. Responsibilities Assist with the setup, preparation, and breakdown of university events. Support event logistics, room configurations, tables, chairs, staging, signage, and event furnishings. Provide on-site operational support during live events and programs. Assist the Director of Event Services with presidential, institutional, commencement, and advancement-related events. Collaborate with campus departments, vendors, volunteers, and event partners to support successful event execution. Maintain clean, organized, and safe event spaces before, during, and after events. Follow event diagrams, setup instructions, and direction from Event Services leadership. Assist with moving, organizing, and storing event supplies, equipment, and materials. Provide professional and courteous support to university officials, guests, vendors, and event participants. Conduct research and benchmarking to identify event industry best practices, emerging trends, innovative event strategies, and potential opportunities to enhance university events. Research and compile information related to event experiences, hospitality, guest engagement, community partnerships, and event programming. Assist with organizing research findings, preparing summaries, and developing recommendations for event planning and continuous improvement. Perform other event-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Required Experience Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience working in a professional, hospitality, customer service, event, or related environment. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations in a professional manner. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with appropriate supervision. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules. Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-visibility environments. Ability to perform the physical duties associated with event setup, execution, and breakdown. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Previous experience in event planning, hospitality, catering, customer service, facilities operations, or related fields. Experience assisting with event setup, room configurations, tables, chairs, staging, or event equipment. Experience working in a university, hotel, convention center, or similar event environment. Familiarity with event logistics, room layouts, and event operations. Experience working with campus departments, vendors, volunteers, or community partners. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor. Experience working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach, and perform other physical tasks associated with event operations. Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. May involve exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise, and crowded event environments. Flexible scheduling required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during major event weeks.
