School Bus Driver

Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses and other authorized vehicles, including paratransit and commercial driving vehicles, following all traffic laws and safety protocols
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical integrity, and cleanliness
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address concerns
• Manage student behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to promote a safe and respectful environment
• Assist children with boarding and exiting the bus, including those requiring special accommodations or childcare support
• Maintain accurate logs of routes, mileage, incidents, and safety checks in compliance with company policies
• Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents by following established procedures and communicating with emergency responders when necessary

Qualifications

• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record; commercial drivers license (CDL) Class B with S and P endorsements. Class A CDL welcome, but must be able to get S and P endorsements within a month of hire.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving; prior school bus driving experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for working with diverse communities
• Knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and basic maintenance practices
• Ability to work with children and demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent childcare skills
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques to handle student conduct effectively
• Customer service-oriented mindset with a friendly, professional demeanor
• Ability to follow detailed routes accurately while maintaining safety standards at all times.
