Security Officer

Job Summary And Responsibilities As our Security Officer, you will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises, managing visitor access, observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned site. The officer will preserve order, enforce regulations, and respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings. It is expected that the security officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with CommonSpirit Health core values and humanity, and support the organization’s strategic plan and quality improvement activities. Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed and report unsafe acts or conditions. Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, report HIPAA breaches if witnessed, investigate security breaches, conduct follow‑up investigations, and write incident reports. Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner, using appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure dispatches are to the correct location. Job Requirements Required High School Diploma or GED. Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer. American Heart Association‑issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 90 days of hire. Preferred Arizona State Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report. International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer. Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO).
