Join our team and join us in the fight for a stronger Miami! United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Site Director II, EHS to join our team. As Site Director II, EHS, you will be responsible for at least 5 to 9 classrooms and for the delivery of and management of direct services to children and families enrolled at the United Way-managed site. He/she is also responsible for the effective implementation of relationship-based family-centered services, providing leadership to center staff and complying with state regulatory guidelines, as well as the implementation of Head Start Performance Standards. The Site Director 2 is responsible for the planning, implementation, and supervision of operating procedures of the United Way-managed site. In collaboration with the Associate Director, EHSCCP, and consultants, assist in the design and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum according to the guidelines and key elements established by UWM and Head Start Performance Standards. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Program Planning and Management: Make certain that faculty understand the implementation of the selected curriculum and also follow UWMD and Head Start Performance Standards. Model exemplary performance in all areas of responsibility as outlined in the all-staff job description. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect towards persons of different cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. In collaboration with other members of the EHS-CCP Partnership, the staff oversees implementation and coordination of childcare and family support services. Review program and child assessment data to utilize in program planning. Ensures information included in the EHS-CCP monthly reports to funders and UW is accurate and current. Makes certain that the program design and management systems support the integration and infusion of reflective practice and supervision throughout the center. Under the guidance of the Implementation Manager, work on the full execution of the EHS-CCP grant and it’s goals. Administration: Human Resources Ensure that recruitment and orientation meet all performance standards. Interview and hire staff according to EHS HR guidelines. Interview and hire staff with the assistance of appropriate supervisory, classroom personnel, and parent representative. In collaboration with EHS-CCP staff, ensure that regular staff observations and feedback sessions are conducted. Utilize reflective supervision techniques with all staff at the center. Include progressive counseling, as needed ensuring that UWM, EEOC, federal, state, and local guidelines are adhered to. Together with the UWM Human Resource Department and CFE Leadership, develop strategies that support retention and team building through center communication systems and faculty leadership meetings. Delegate tasks and responsibilities as appropriate. Responsible for the implementation of the UWM Performance Management Process. Manages staff, consumer, and general public grievances according to policies and procedures. Work in collaboration with the UWM HR Department. Parent Relationships Model positive and professional interactions toward parents. Implementation of guidelines by maintaining the parent master file, updating weekly statistics, and providing tours. Ensure program-specific staff goals are met by maintaining waiting lists, filling open slots, enrolling families, and providing orientation to new families. Convenes a body of parents and community representatives for the Center Committee. Elicit the participation of parents in the Policy Council. Works in collaboration with the Family Engagement Supervisor to increase family engagement in all programs. Health, Safety, and Licensing Adhere to and instruct faculty about Head Start Performance Standards and state licensing requirements. Follow UWMD Health and Safety policies and procedures. Ensure all accidents and incidents are documented, and parents, state licensing, and UWMD are notified as necessary. Center Maintenance Ensure the program provides a clean, safe, child-ready Center at all times, with careful thought given to displays and the environment. Monitor maintenance of facility, equipment, and supplies. Professionalism Maintain confidentiality and model professional work ethic. Demonstrate knowledge of ages and stages of development for children 0 to 3. Attend community meetings, training, or events. Positively project UWMD’s mission, goals, philosophies, and policies to parents, faculty, and the community. Keeps abreast of trends and research in the early childhood field. Teamwork Establish and maintain a relationship of cooperation and respect with co-workers, assuming a fair share of work and demonstrating initiative. Lead and supervise the teaching team through communication, collaboration, and discussion of individual children's needs and curriculum planning. Substitute in classrooms to maintain ratios and gain exposure. Develops strong relationships with M-DCPS staff. Decision Making Authority Supervise all Center staff. Exercise independent judgment on a daily basis, understanding the relation between MDCPS and UWM. Maintains the VP, CFEEE, Senior Director, EHS CCP & Quality Assurance Manager informed of all incidents Requirements: Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education, or in one of the following: child development and family studies, early childhood special education, or elementary education, any of which encompasses the development and learning of children from birth through kindergarten. Must have Florida Child Care Director Credential. 9 credit hours in leadership, management, and administration, to be completed during the first year of employment. Must meet federal and state requirements. Demonstrated experience and skill in written and oral communication, leadership, organization, and supervision. 15 Professional Development (In-Service) hours per year, including CPR. Experience Requirements: At least one year of experience as a program administrator or service area specialist. Bilingual preferred. (English/Spanish) Technology Requirements: Beginning Internet Explorer, Intermediate Word, Intermediate Excel, Intermediate Outlook. At the time of employment, training in Andar will be required. Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Public speaking, understanding of people, ability to adapt to changing situations, ability to understand and analyze industry trends, sales ability, computer skills, basic math skills, and negotiation skills.
