Responsibilities As an OR RN, you will conduct preoperative assessments, verify patient histories, consents, allergies, and required diagnostics, and ensure all needed equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning prior to surgery. You will prepare the operating room, maintain a sterile environment, and follow strict infection prevention and control protocols. During procedures, you will function as a circulating nurse and, when needed, as a scrub nurse—managing instrumentation, handling specimens, documenting intraoperative findings, advocating for the patient, and promptly addressing any changes in patient status. You will also assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients, collaborating with the anesthesia team to monitor vital signs and respond to emergent situations. Postoperatively, you will participate in handoff communication to PACU or recovery staff, reinforce discharge and postoperative instructions, and support pain management and patient comfort. Documentation of all aspects of nursing care, adherence to regulatory and facility standards, and accurate use of electronic medical records are essential components of the role. You will contribute to quality and safety initiatives, participate in performance improvement activities, and support compliance with perioperative best practices. Qualifications The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail‑oriented RN with operating room experience who is comfortable in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity surgical setting.
