About the Role

As our Floor Technician, you'll care for every floor surface in the community. That includes hallways, dining and activity spaces, and resident apartments. You'll work alongside our housekeeping and maintenance teams to keep the building safe, spotless and tour-ready. You'll also pitch in with light maintenance and apartment turnovers.

What You'll Do

• Strip, seal, wax, scrub, burnish and buff hard floors (tile, VCT, LVT, wood, concrete and terrazzo) using the right chemicals and methods for each surface

• Vacuum, spot clean, shampoo and extract carpets, treating stains and spills quickly

• Operate and care for floor equipment, including auto-scrubbers, burnishers, swing machines and carpet extractors

• Follow the community's daily, weekly and periodic floor care schedule, and finish projects on time

• Use wet-floor signs and plan floor work around resident dining, activities and traffic

• Respond quickly to spills and floor hazards to help prevent slips and falls

• Help with apartment turnovers, move-ins, event setups and light maintenance such as bulb changes, touch-up painting and replacing ceiling tiles and transition strips

• Follow safety, chemical handling (SDS), OSHA and infection-control procedures

• Treat residents with warmth and respect, especially when working in their homes

What We're Looking For

• About one year of commercial floor care, custodial, housekeeping or building maintenance experience preferred

• Hands-on experience with floor care equipment and knowledge of floor types and chemicals

• Senior living, healthcare or hospitality experience is a plus

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Ability to read product labels, SDS sheets and work orders, and to mix chemicals at proper dilution ratios

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, push floor equipment, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance

• Ability to complete a health screening, including a TB test

• Dependable, detail-oriented and comfortable working independently

• Availability for evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled

• A genuine heart for older adults
