Position Summary

The Staff Accountant supports the organization’s daily financial operations by managing accounts

payable and receivable, cash receipts and deposits, payroll preparation, vendor payments, and

account reconciliations. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational and Excel

skills, accounting knowledge, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively

across the organization.

Responsibilities

▪ Accounts Payable: coding and entering invoices into QuickBooks Online

▪ Accounts Receivable: prepare invoices and post cash receipts

▪ Daily data entry for sales and donation deposits

▪ Maintain vendor payments via check and online

▪ Prepare bi-weekly payroll

▪ Assist with month-end close, annual audits and budget.

▪ Provide assistance to the Chief Financial Officer as needed.

Qualifications

▪ Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field OR

▪ 3+ years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.

▪ Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, cash receipts, payroll

and general ledger entries.

▪ Understanding of restricted and unrestricted funds, and program or department accounting.

▪ Proficiency in accounting software, specifically QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.

▪ Strong attention to detail, time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.

▪ Ability to manage high-volume, repetitive tasks with consistency.

▪ Ability to meet deadlines, maintain confidential information, and work independently with limited

supervision.

▪ Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with employees, vendors, auditors and

managers.

▪ Full-time work hours – Monday – Friday, (9am – 6pm)

Physical demands and working conditions

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Subject to climbing, kneeling, lifting, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and walking to perform the essential functions.
