Job Summary Bakery Clerk duties include packaging, labeling, and pricing bakery products. Maintain stock levels and product quality by monitoring dates, appearance, and storage temperature controls. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Adhere to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating baked goods. Assist bakery personnel with preparing, packaging, labeling, and maintaining product displays. Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives. Stack pallets and sort product into correct locations according to Company efficiency standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by following safety procedures. Provide friendly, customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and taking orders by phone or in person. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and calibrated scales. Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a bread slicer and commercial oven. Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes. Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools. Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners in written and verbal form. Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays. Attentive to potential hazards and ability to remedy or place warning signs as needed. Report hazards to a supervisor when needed. Education, Experience And Qualifications Minimum of 18 years of age. Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy. Food Handler certification required. Typically involves on-the-job training. Physical Demands Continuously use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or focus. Stand or walk continuously. Use hands for reaching, touching, or handling. Talk and hear continuously. Frequent strenuous finger or hand movements; frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, or stooping. Push, pull, maneuver, or lift objects up to 40 lbs frequently; up to 75 lbs occasionally. Attendance at work is required. Work Context And Environment Work is generally in a retail store. Frequently exposed to hot surfaces, extreme cold and heat (non-weather), wet or damp conditions. Equipment with sharp blades or edges; exposure to cleaning agents. Quiet to moderate noise level.
