Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required
• Level IV NICU experience within the past year required
• Must be neonatal trained and able to work independently and autonomously
• Experience with high-risk deliveries required
• Board certification in Neonatology required
• Virginia nurse practitioner license needed by start date; please allow time for state licensing
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, PALS, and ACLS
• DEA and CSR required
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• COVID-19 and flu vaccines required with no exemptions
• Two professional references required with submission

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities

• Provide advanced neonatal care for mixed-acuity patients in the NICU
• Assess, diagnose, and manage infants and neonates across assigned shifts
• Support high-risk deliveries and respond to urgent neonatal needs
• Perform and assist with specialized procedures such as intubation, line placement, lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion, PICC placement, UAC/UVC placement, and ventilator management
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic electronic health record (EHR)
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and support staff to maintain safe, high-quality patient care
• Adapt to rotating coverage needs, including nights, weekends, and flexible shift patterns as needed
