Job Description AECOM is seeking an Archaeologist II to join our growing Northern California Cultural Resources team in the Bay area. This hybrid opportunity will be based in our Oakland or Sacramento, CA offices. This position is a core member of the Cultural Resources Practice with responsibility for supporting all aspects of project implementation. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position that will report to a Cultural Resources Team Manager. This position may serve as a crew lead, based on work experience and education. Responsibilities Completing fieldwork (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring), archival research, technical report writing, and data collection and compilation. Gathering data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports. Working independently, part of a team, and under supervision of senior staff. Liaising and developing positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders. Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner. Drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on analysis. Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including occasional travel. Being innovative and a problem solver. Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to manager. Minimum Requirements BA/BS in anthropology, archaeology, history, or a closely related field. 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology and cultural resources management. Willingness/ability to travel and conduct fieldwork throughout central and northern California. Valid driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or a closely related field. 4+ years of experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology and cultural resources management. Relevant field experience in central and/or northern California and/or Western US. Advanced knowledge in one or more specialty scientific areas (e.g., lithic or faunal analysis; osteology; historical archaeology). Demonstration of excellent technical writing skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills. Experience and familiarity with tribal representatives for Southern California. Knowledge of regional and local (Southern California) regulations. Additional Information Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $84,000.00.
