Adjunct Instructor - Industrial and Engineering Technology

Job Summary Provides instruction for students enrolled in courses within the Industrial & Engineering Technology (IAET) department at Lamar Institute of Technology, including dual credit high school students. Courses include: Computer Drafting Engineering Technology Instrumentation Technology Mechatronics Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Process Operating Technology Robotics and Automation Technology Utility Line Technology Adjunct instructors must be qualified and competent to teach applicable courses. Hours vary depending on need and class schedule, including day, evening, weekend, and online options. Position is exempt. Duties / Responsibilities Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process Maintain ethical and professional behavior Attend adjunct faculty meetings Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels Complete required training such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training Utilize LIT’s Teaching and Learning Center and Sam Houston State University Faculty Online Development Training to continually hone and improve teaching skills Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual Other related duties as assigned Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Appropriate degree in accordance with specific program instructor qualifications (e.g., Master’s for some programs, Associate’s for more technical ones) Work experience in the targeted program or related field Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies Good verbal and written communication skills Good time management skills Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in related coursework, experience teaching in higher education, related field and/or industry certifications. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move within an office setting; and constantly operate a computer or other office equipment such as a printer or copier.
