Summary

DON Pathways Internship Program

You will serve as a Student Trainee (Library Aide) in the Academic Dean and Provost of NAVAL ACADEMY.

This internship is temporary not to exceed one year.

Duties

• You will be sorting and shelving books and periodicals.
• You will be assisting patrons with printers microform and photocopy machines.
• You will be performing a variety of special projects and tasks designed to keep the collection in good order.
• You will be checking library materials in and out.
• You will be answering a variety of questions concerning circulation functions.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:L

GS-02: Successful completion of a high school or GED diploma.
GS-03: Successful completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study.

Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or in some limited circumstances to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion Interns must:

Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
Complete their degree or certificate requirements
Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participants Agreement and
Perform their job successfully

The Pathways appointment has promotion potential GS-03 If selected below the full performance level incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements and upon the recommendation of management.
