Instrument Electrician Technician

We are looking for an Electrician & Instrumentation Technician to provide construction, installation, relocation, repair and preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities for the optimum operating efficiency of the Wilmington Plant. Reporting to the Supervisor and working in a collaborative community within a challenging and exciting environment. Responsibilities Performing basic troubleshooting in electrical control, distribution, and motor protection Installing and commissioning switchgear, control devices, transformers, electrical feeders, motors and process instrumentation Using test equipment to diagnose high, medium and low voltage electrical circuits Installing programmable logic controllers (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), and human machine interface (HMI) devices Repairing and calibrating pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and electronic instruments What You’ll Bring A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Qualified Electrician & Instrumentation Technician with 6+ years of experience in a first‑class role Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical and electronic theory, Ohm's Law, and Kirchhoff’s Law Proficiency in power factor, voltage drop, and National Electric Code application Familiarity with instrument operation in a loop and Variable Frequency Drives Skilled in test and calibration equipment, personal computers, and medium to high voltage circuits Ability to interpret and apply schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, and process flow drawings Experience with GE Limit Amp Starters, GE/Siemens vacuum circuit breakers, and ABB gas circuit breakers Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate of $48.09 plus a $0.50 hourly tool allowance for California‑based roles 401(k) matching program (company matches .35 per dollar up to 5% of base pay) Generous Rio Tinto employee share program A safety‑focused and inclusive working environment with comprehensive leave policies (PTO, holidays, bereavement) Access to family‑friendly health programs (medical, dental, vision, life insurance) Child‑caregiver leave program (up to 100% salary top‑up) Ongoing Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other voluntary benefits Discount programs for leisure and access to Virgin Pulse with wellness incentives Safety and well‑being as the number one priority, with provision of quality tools and a safe work environment Location The role is based in the Port of Los Angeles in the city of Wilmington, California, a historic site with a long‑standing operations community.
