Arcadis is seeking a Project Ecologist/Planner to join our Energy Transition team in the Pacific Northwest region (Washington and Oregon). Role description Support and grow our expanding business in renewable energies, linear utilities, oil and gas, and rail. Provide technical and task management support for a variety of environmental permitting and planning projects and project management support for successful project delivery. Requires experience with the Clean Water Act (CWA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and state agencies in Washington and Oregon. Work collaboratively with a diverse team and balance varying priorities. Offers a flexible working environment with a hybrid work structure. Remote work is possible with office days as needed. Periodic travel of 15–25% may be required. Role accountabilities Work closely with biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, engineers, and other technical specialists to execute environmental permitting projects. Support and implement permitting strategies, including leading the preparation of permit applications. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients to ensure successful project outcomes. Participate in project siting, planning and permitting, construction support, and permit closeout. Develop and manage environmental planning projects with schedule‑driven task management. Support business development by leading pursuits and proposal opportunities. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a similar environmental discipline. 6+ years of relevant experience managing environmental permitting projects in the western US, ideally within environmental consulting. Experienced task manager who is schedule‑driven, with experience estimating and managing costs and delivery of environmental planning projects. Significant experience developing permit applications and permitting strategy with state‑specific experience in the Pacific Northwest; experience consulting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is required; NEPA experience is preferred. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with resource specialists to develop environmental documents. Preferred Familiarity with field‑related project components such as wetland delineations, habitat reviews, construction oversight, stormwater compliance, and other similar tasks. Nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. Salary range: $102,120 – $153,180.
