POSITION SUMMARY
The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Park Maintenance Technician I/II/III to serve in the Parks & Recreation department. This position maintains the condition of Town's parks and recreation areas to provide a clean and safe environment for workers and the public.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Parks Maintenance Crew Leader of assigned specialty area for guidance and work direction under the general direction of the Parks Maintenance Manager. Work is checked for accuracy, quality and adherence to instructions. Employee may need to occasionally choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems but consults with supervisor on matters not covered by guidelines. Incumbents have no supervisory responsibilities.
The work schedule is business hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation. The starting annual salary range is $43,266.48-$51,521.71 (Grades C/D/F) . This position is considered essential during inclement weather and emergencies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Not all duties may be assigned to each position. The allocation of duties for this position will vary based upon level in the job classification series and will be dependent upon skill level and the location of work assigned.
1.Performs inspections on trails and parks. Establishes priority maintenance needs and forwards to supervisor for consideration.
2.Performs parks maintenance such as repairs to fences, boardwalks, benches, picnic tables, garbage cans, signs, shelters, etc., and any other existing structures.
3.Maintains walking trails with mulch, stone or asphalt patches; ensures trail is clear of any obstructions.
4.Manages invasive vegetation in and around parks, greenways and greenbelts. Prunes healthy trees using proper pruning techniques. Removes dead or hazardous trees in the parks. Removes fallen leaves. Plants new trees and grass.
5.Performs landscape maintenance, including mowing, edging, blowing, mulching beds, weeding, watering, fertilizing, turf renovation and pruning.
6.Performs general maintenance on Town recreational fields, scoreboards, signs, bleachers, irrigation systems, and benches.
7.Performs a variety of services on synthetic turf and natural grass fields.
8.Performs custodial cleaning of building interiors.
9.Ensures parks' restrooms, picnic shelters and recreation areas are clean and in good working order.
10.Maintains appearance of all parks to ensure the areas are free of litter, trash, fallen tree limbs and other debris.
11.Maintains records of all maintenance activities in Town's software package. Completes updates of labor and materials used for each work project.
12.Sprays herbicides/pesticides to control weeds/pests on Town property.
13.Operates maintenance equipment, including but not limited to, field drag, lawn mower, utility tractor, string trimmer, chain saw, pole saw, dump truck, sod cutter, chemical sprayer, tiller, bush hog, etc.
14.Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment.
15.Plans for and coordinates a preventative maintenance program for equipment, which includes general maintenance, repairing or arranging for repairs of equipment through appropriate sources. Oversees the safe operation and calibration of mechanical and hand operated equipment, lawn mowers, line trimmers, utility tractors and attachments, spray equipment, and lining and dragging equipment.
16.Assists other department staff when necessary to complete projects and special events.
17.Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
18.Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.
19.Provides backup assistance to other department personnel as needed.
20.Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data.
21.Reports to work for after hour needs, as assigned.
22.Performs emergency repairs and work as necessary.
23.Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the operation, care, and repair of maintenance equipment and tools.
• Working knowledge of occupational hazards (OSHA) and safe work practices.

• Must have 3 or more job related certifications or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe determined by the town. . Maintenance Technician III
• Bachelor's Degree or Technical degree
• Minimum three (3) years of job-related skilled work experience.
