About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day/Night rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Must have medical surgical oncology experience and at least 1 inpatient hematology oncology experience in work history and checklist. A minimum of two years of overall nursing experience is required. License: Valid state nursing license required at the time of application. Certifications: BLS ACLS ONS Chemo Certification required Must-Have: Experience with leukemia and blood dyscrasias. Current acute care experience in the specialty applied for. Description: This position involves caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. The unit has a high number of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolytes. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4 but may adjust to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit requirements. The role requires a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention. Key skills include telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, administration of blood products, and chemotherapy. Understanding and interpreting dysrhythmias is essential. Candidates must have experience with rapid response protocols and managing feeding tubes. The team collaborates with various interdisciplinary support services to deliver comprehensive patient care. All candidates must undergo a fingerprinting process as part of the hiring requirements. Two professional references are needed, with at least one from a formal leadership position. No coworker references are accepted. Former employees may apply for travel assignments after being away from the organization for six months. Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
