Prep Cook

Roman's, the celebrated neighborhood Italian restaurant in Fort Greene, seeks a part time Prep Cook with restaurant experience. This position requires morning availability, Mondays through Thursdays.

Key responsibilities:

• Execute daily prep lists efficiently, following exact recipes, yields, and chef specifications.
• Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients to set up stations for line cooks prior to service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary prep area, sink, and walk-in cooler throughout the shift.
• Monitor product quality and report low inventory levels, spoilage, or equipment issues to management.
• Label, stock, and organize inventory.
• Break down stations fully. Clean and sanitize workstation prior to departing the shift. 

Successful candidates will: 

• Have 2+ years of professional cooking experience with excellent production skills
• Display keen attention to detail and spatial awareness
• Be reliable, focused, organized, communicative, and curious
• Have a receptive and charitable attitude toward constructive feedback
• Be interested in working collaboratively towards meeting the goals of the team and the business

While performing the duties of the job, a Prep Cook is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
