Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour (10:45 - 12:45); Night 4x10-Hour (21:15 - 23:15) Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience required License: Must have an active Illinois license in hand or be in the application process to apply Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred Must-Have: - General OR and Trauma experience required - Level I trauma experience required - Bariatric Case experience: Laparoscopic assisted cases - General Surgery case experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple - Neurology case skills/experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion - Orthopedic case skills/experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures - Plastic Surgery case skills/experience: Free Flap - Microvascular - Transplant skills/experience: Organ donation - Urology case skills/experience: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy - Trauma case skills/experience: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries) - Emergency management skills/experience: Code response, Fire safety, Latex Allergy, Malignant Hyperthermia - Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies experience: Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables - Professional knowledge and skills: Administration of blood products, Infection control, Radiation Safety, Specimen Handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, Urinary bladder catheterization Description: Position in the operating room. The position involves working with all service lines except CV. The assignment includes availability for call, typically 1 time per week. Candidates should be open to accommodating the schedule, but block scheduling is not available. All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by management. Candidates must be willing to float within their skill set, though this is rare. Candidates must work 1 weekend shift per month. Experience with Cerner is preferred. Scrub color will be provided for this role. This position is suited for professionals with a strong background in various surgical procedures. Candidates should comply with all hospital policies and procedures. The hospital is a Magnet facility and a teaching institution. Candidates will need to maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards throughout their employment.
