Position Summary Burke's seeks a music lesson instructor for our After School Music program, offering private piano, guitar, drums, and/or voice lessons to students in grades K‑8. The role focuses on introducing and nurturing a joyful relationship with each instrument, meeting students where they are, and emphasizing fun and student‑teacher relationships. Instructors may draw on classical training or music choices that reflect student interests, and can receive flexibility in regard to performances and tours. Primary Responsibilities Teach individual piano, guitar, drums, and/or voice lessons to students on a weekly basis (Monday to Friday, 3:00‑6:00 pm) on dates and times agreed upon in advance. Check in regularly with parents concerning student progress and any needs or recommendations for the child at home. Offer recitals as planned by the After School Music Program manager. Communicate effectively with the program manager, After School staff, students, parents, and caregivers to foster strong partnerships. Qualifications & Skills Experience teaching music to Grades K‑8 (2+ years preferred). Demonstrated confidence in differentiation of instruction and cultural competency. Understanding, commitment, and appreciation for equitable and anti‑racist teaching practices and the social‑emotional needs of girls. Personal Qualities Passion for teaching music and a desire to be part of a gender‑inclusive girls’ school. Flexible, creative, and possessing a growth mindset and openness to feedback.
