CT Technologist- Float Pool- CSRC-Gulf South

This job is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. The position is also a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Contents are subject to change at the company’s discretion. Education Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program. Work Experience Minimum 3 years ARRT(RT) or CNMT experience, including 1 year of CT experience. Certifications Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, Registered by the American Register of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), current unrestricted ARRT(CT), unlimited state license (if applicable). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to the role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language. Maintain strict confidentiality. Work efficiently and calmly under pressure. Work self-directed and function without direct supervision. Flexibility in work duties and hours (may require nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts). General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics of blood flow in relation to various disease states. Ability to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on nationally published criteria. Assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance. Job Duties Verify physician order and procedure to assure accuracy. Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care. Explain procedure to patient to ensure understanding. Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV). Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted. Assist in facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.). Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions and communication style. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
