Registered Nurse - ICU

We are seeking a highly skilled ICU RN to join our team. The ICU RN will provide specialized care for critically ill medical, surgical, cardiac, and neuro patients, managing complex conditions such as STEMI, respiratory distress, sepsis, stroke, DKA, and post-surgical care (e.g., craniotomy, nephrectomy). The role involves managing critically ill patients, performing EKG competency, and handling procedures such as art line management, central line management, NIHSS assessments, EVD drains, and chest tubes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in acute care; first-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience
• BLS, ACLS, NIH certifications required
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
• Experience with art lines, central lines, NIHSS, EVD drains, and chest tubes preferred

Shift and Schedule:

• 4 days a week on day shift (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) or 3 days a week on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Night shift may be assigned on a 5/2 rotation schedule
• Every other weekend rotation
• Willingness to float to Med Surg units with ratios up to 1:6 when floated
• Holiday work required (2 out of 3 major holidays per year)

Orientation:

• Hospital orientation plus 2 shifts on the unit

Support and Resources:

• In-house support including charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, and hospitalist available 24/7
• Charting done in Meditech Expanse EMR
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensers

Additional Notes:

• Scrub color: Pewter; T-shirts in gray, white, or black with WK monogram
• Jackets in gray or black
• Badge must be worn above the waist at all times
• Parking is provided in designated free lots
• Potential to float to Med Surg units; comfort with ratios up to 1:6 is required
• No call shifts; anticipate working 2/3 holidays during the contract
