Traveling PipefitterThis short-term traveling contract role in Jefferson City, TN calls for an experienced pipefitter with strong commercial or industrial. You will install, assemble, and maintain black iron and copper piping systems, including hot water coil piping, while working both independently and as part of a field crew. The position requires precise blueprint reading, consistent high-quality workmanship, and the ability to complete assigned tasks safely with minimal supervision.ResponsibilitiesInstall, assemble, and maintain black iron and copper piping systems in a commercial or industrial environment.Install hot water coil piping to support building mechanical systems.Utilize MegaPress and ProPress systems for piping installation and connection work.Read and interpret blueprints and piping schematics accurately to plan and execute work.Perform pipe fitting tasks including cutting, threading, brazing, and installing copper and carbon steel piping.Work efficiently and safely with limited supervision while meeting project deadlines.Support school renovation projects by completing piping work both inside and outside the facility.Maintain high standards of workmanship and follow all safety and construction site protocols.Coordinate with field leadership and crew members to ensure smooth project execution.Adapt to rotating travel schedules and complete mileage and site travel requirements as needed.Essential Skills45 years of commercial or industrial pipefitting experience.Proficiency working with black iron and copper piping systems.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and piping schematics.Experience installing hot water coil piping.Hands-on experience using MegaPress and ProPress systems.Strong skills in pipe fitting, including copper pipe installation, brazing, threading, and general pipe installation.Experience working with carbon steel piping in construction or industrial settings.Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining safety and quality standards.Ability to work both indoors and outdoors on renovation projects.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in construction or industrial piping environments.Experience with industrial pipe welding.Comfort working on school renovation projects with changing site conditions.Willingness to travel on a recurring basis and follow rotating weekly schedules.Ability to manage time effectively during compressed workweeks.Why Work Here?This opportunity offers a flexible travel schedule designed to minimize time away from home, with most rotations running mid-week and many projects allowing an early return to recharge before the next cycle. The schedule typically runs Wednesday through Saturday with Sunday off, and some rotations may run Monday through Thursday, returning home Thursday and restarting the following Wednesday. The environment is a construction site setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols, appropriate workwear, and readiness to work in varying weather conditions while using standard piping and construction tools and equipment.This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN.The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
