PURCHASING & INVENTORY SPECIALIST

Purpose: B&P Manufacturing is actively seeking a Procurement & Inventory Specialist to join our Northern Michigan team. In this role, you will support our Purchasing Department within a high‑mix, high‑volume manufacturing environment serving Aerospace, Defense, and Material Handling industries. The Procurement & Inventory Specialist will play a critical role in sourcing materials, obtaining competitive quotes, and ensuring supplier compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements as well as ensuring accurate inventory transactions by reviewing production documentation, relieving consumed materials, and recording finished goods in the ERP system. Position Overview: Procurement & Inventory Specialist Key Responsibilities: Source and identify qualified suppliers for purchased components and materials Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes to ensure cost competitiveness and alignment with project requirements Collaborate with internal teams and engineering to support quoting activities and customer proposals Issue and manage RFQs (Requests for Quote) to suppliers Ensure all supplier documentation complies with contract requirements, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) flow‑downs Prepare, issue, and track Non‑Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with suppliers Maintain accurate supplier records, pricing data, and procurement documentation Assist Purchasing Manager with vendor negotiations, cost analysis, and supplier selection Monitor supplier performance, delivery timelines, and quality expectations Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure alignment on sourced components Review completed work orders, travelers, and production paperwork from the shop floor Verify material usage and production quantities against work order requirements Process inventory transactions in ERP system, including: Issuing (relieving) raw materials and components Receiving finished goods into inventory Ensure accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOM) based on actual consumption Identify and resolve discrepancies between planned and actual material usage Maintain accurate inventory records to support purchasing and materials planning Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation Support timely closure of work orders to maintain accurate system data Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent US Citizenship 1–3 years in purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing support Experience with ERP/MRP systems (transactions, work orders, inventory) Strong attention to detail and data accuracy Understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of sourcing and quoting processes Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Strong organizational and communication skills Strong analytical and cost‑evaluation skills Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment Preferred: Experience in Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environments Familiarity with supplier contract requirements and compliance documentation Experience managing NDAs and contractual agreements Basic knowledge of FAR/DFARS requirements and compliance principles Familiarity with BOMs, work orders, and inventory transactions Compensation and Benefits: Pay based on experience, skill set, and qualifications starting at $58,000 to $65,000/year based upon prior experience, salary non‑exempt Blue Care Network medical, Dental, Vision, Short‑term disability, Life insurance Paid vacation and holidays 401K Retirement plan with company contribution Profit sharing program Flexible work schedule – (4) 10 hour days Monday-Thursday or (5) 8 hour days Monday-Friday.
