Clinical Research Assistant

Position Summary The Rosamund Stone Zander and Hansjoerg Wyss Translational Neuroscience Center (TNC) is comprised of translational investigators and clinical experts focused on neurogenetic and neurodevelopmental disorders. The TNC has been selected to lead a multisite trial that aims to evaluate the comparative etiological yield and psychosocial impact of brain MRI alone vs. brain MRI and genetic testing for evaluation of cerebral palsy (CP). This initiative aims to provide clinicians with robust data to support clinical decision-making when caring for children and adults with CP. Under supervision, the CRA will coordinate the daily operational activities of this study. They will be responsible for screening, recruiting, consenting, and enrolling participants. They will monitor protocol implementation, completing required forms and reporting results, and regulatory submissions. They will conduct data collection activities, complete data entry, maintain regulatory binders, may prepare analytical reports on study results and support research activities as required. They will follow established clinical study standards and procedures to plan and conduct this study. The CRA will maintain open communication with team members to ensure proper study progress. Key Responsibilities Recruits, consents, and enrolls participants for the research study by providing detailed information on the study through verbal and written communications with patients/families. Provides detailed background information regarding the study to families, communicates all policies and procedures, and responds to all inquiries. Evaluates suitability of prospective study candidates by reviewing clinical information to identify patients meeting study inclusion criteria. Serves as liaison to the families/participants in the research study conducted at both on-site and off-site locations, guiding and advising them throughout each phase of the study. Coordinates follow-up visits as necessary. Acts as a resource to study participants, addressing any concerns they may have. Troubleshoots resolution of any issues that may arise throughout the study. Coordinates and prepares the necessary documentation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, together with the Principal Investigator of the study. Tracks progress from submission to approval. Assists in developing supportive study documents such as informed consent forms, monitoring templates, study subject tracking tools, monitoring forms, study manuals, and training materials, as required for a study. Assists with the tracking and compilation of enrollment information. Creates and prepares data collection statistical reports and analytical summaries for distribution to study research team for review and analysis. May assist with preparation of manuscripts and reports to be submitted to academic journals. Participates in the training of newly hired research study assistants, as required. Coordinates activities between the hospital and research laboratories to ensure correct testing/processing and sends out instructions specific to the study. Communicates project policies and procedures to personnel. Monitors and reviews data collection, data entry, and informed consent procedures -- ensuring consistency of application for all participants. Minimum Qualifications Education A Bachelor's degree is required. Experience Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are moderately complex to complex. Work requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, troubleshooting abilities, and resourcefulness. Work requires well-developed communication skills (both verbal and written) in order to provide critical information to team members, patients, and families, and effectively triage and elevate concerns to appropriate leadership.
