Job Description

This Electrical Designer role focuses on electrical design and drafting for a wide variety of building projects, including healthcare, education, civic, commercial, recreation, and multi-family residential facilities. You will use tools such as AutoCAD and energy compliance software to produce high-quality designs and documentation, contributing to power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems. The position offers the opportunity to grow your skills in Revit and BIM, perform photometric analysis, and collaborate within a professional consulting environment that values quality work, mentorship, and work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs and drafting documents for building projects, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare and update drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.
• Participate in electrical design for a variety of project types, such as healthcare (OSHPD), K-12 (DSA), higher education, civic, commercial, recreation, and multi-family residential facilities.
• Perform photometric analysis to support lighting design and verify that lighting layouts meet project and code requirements.
• Support energy compliance documentation using appropriate software tools to ensure designs align with applicable energy codes and regulations.
• Collaborate with project teams, including designers and consultants, to coordinate electrical systems with other disciplines.
• Use Revit and BIM tools, where applicable, to contribute to integrated building models and coordinated design documents.
• Apply Bluebeam or similar tools to review, mark up, and coordinate drawings and specifications.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, organizing tasks and priorities to meet deadlines and project milestones.
• Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with team members and stakeholders to clarify design intent and resolve issues.
• Contribute to problem-solving and decision-making efforts related to electrical design challenges and project constraints.
• Work effectively within a team environment, sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and participating in design reviews.
• Demonstrate self-motivation and self-direction by proactively advancing tasks, seeking information, and following through on commitments.

Essential Skills

• 2–4 years of experience in electrical design and drafting.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical design and drafting.
• Experience with power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage design, or any combination of these systems.
• Experience with energy compliance documentation and related software tools.
• Ability to perform photometric analysis for lighting design.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and self-directed work style.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Revit and BIM is a plus.
• Familiarity with OSHPD requirements for healthcare projects.
• Familiarity with DSA requirements for K-12 projects.
• Experience with Bluebeam for drawing review and markups.
• Experience in designing electrical systems for civic, commercial, recreation, and multi-family residential projects.
• Interest in expanding skill sets across multiple electrical design disciplines.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, modern office environment with locations that support design projects in multiple regions. The primary workspace is an open-plan area where each team member has a tall, walled cubicle equipped with a standing desk and dual monitors, providing both privacy and comfort. The atmosphere is quiet and has a professional corporate consulting feel, with leadership offices located along the perimeter of the main work area. The facility is state-of-the-art and includes an on-site gym. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of RANCHO CORDOVA, CA.

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
