Registered Nurse Trauma Spine

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Registered Nurse Trauma Spine to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to trauma and spine patients in a fast-paced acute care environment. The Registered Nurse Trauma Spine is responsible for performing thorough assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses, and coordinating multidisciplinary care with physicians, surgeons, therapists, and support staff. You will provide pre‑ and post‑operative care for spine surgery and trauma patients, closely monitoring neurologic status, pain control, mobility, and potential complications, while ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. The nurse in this role will serve as a key clinical resource for patients and families, offering clear education on diagnoses, surgical procedures, rehabilitation expectations, and discharge plans, and advocating for patient needs throughout the continuum of care. You will collaborate closely with the trauma and spine teams to support evidence-based protocols, participate in rounds, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, fall and infection prevention, and optimal clinical outcomes. This position requires strong critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and the ability to prioritize care for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
