This individual contributor role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside senior leadership and operate within the highest levels of authority to manage the most complex, high‑stakes Specialty claims. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Manage an inventory of the most complex Public D&O and Financial Institutions E&O claims, generally multi‑year with significant loss exposure, by following company protocols to oversee all aspects of claim handling, including coverage determinations, investigations, and resolution strategies (risk transfer, extensive negotiations, complex litigation management).
- Ensure exceptional customer service by driving continuous improvements for all aspects of the claim/account, providing professional and timely claims services, and achieving quality and cycle time standards.
- Verify coverage, set and manage timely and adequate reserves by reviewing and interpreting policy language, partnering with coverage counsel, estimating potential claim valuation, and following the company’s claim handling protocols.
- Lead all activities involved with a focused investigation to determine compensability, liability and covered damages by gathering pertinent information, documenting statements from customers/claimants, and working with experts or other parties as necessary to verify the facts of the claim.
- Drive the resolution of claims by collaborating with internal and external business partners to develop, own and execute a claim resolution strategy, manage timely reserves, collaborate with coverage experts, negotiate complex settlements, partner with counsel for litigation, and authorize payments within scope of authority.
- Establish and manage significant claim budgets by identifying, selecting and actively managing appropriate resources, delivering high‑quality services, and coordinating all efforts for timely claim/account resolution.
- Discover and address subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud occurrences by evaluating claim facts and referring to appropriate Claim, Recovery or SIU resources for further investigation.
- Achieve quality standards by effectively managing each claim to ensure compliance with protocols, accurate and timely work, proper documentation, and timely resolution and payment.
- Prepare and present high-profile, complex information to senior leadership, customers, counsel, and others by developing executive loss summaries, coordinating communication of resolution strategies, and sharing relevant current events and case law.
- Maintain subject‑matter expertise and ensure compliance with state/local regulatory requirements by staying current on insurance laws, regulations or trends for the specialized line of business, and may represent the company in industry trade groups or other important events.
- Mentor, guide, develop and deliver training to less experienced Claim Professionals and assist with special projects as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to develop collaborative relationships and articulate complex claim facts, analysis and recommendations concisely to senior management and external partners.
- Demonstrated analytical and investigative mindset with critical thinking skills and ability to make sound business decisions in ambiguous, complex situations.
- Extensive experience leading complex negotiations and implementing resolution strategies.
- Strong work ethic, time‑management, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to drive results with a proactive long‑term view of business goals.
- Experience interpreting D&O and E&O insurance policies and coverage.
- Ability to partner with internal resources, oversee outside counsel, and collaborate with other carriers.
- Ability to handle multiple shifting priorities in a challenging environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn business‑related software.
- Demonstrated ability to value diverse opinions and ideas.
