Saw Operator | Houston, TX
Position Summary:
The Saw Operator is responsible for accurately cutting and issuing raw steel material according to work-order specifications. The position also handles remaining material, verifies requirements using quality instruments, maintains product traceability, and assists with receiving and inventory activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial metal saws to cut steel tube and bar according to specifications.
- Work with Operations Management to prioritize work orders and projects.
- Cut and issue raw materials and return remaining material to the proper storage locations.
- Receive material by identifying, tagging, and tallying products.
- Inspect saws, tools, and equipment daily to ensure proper operation and calibration.
- Use measuring and quality instruments to verify material requirements.
- Maintain accurate product traceability, including product descriptions, heat numbers, lot numbers, and serial numbers.
- Assist with organizing material storage systems.
- Report equipment or material deficiencies to management.
- Maintain a clean saw area and surrounding workspace.
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Follow all Tube Supply HSE, QMS, and corporate procedures.
Qualifications: Previous material-handling experience; metal saw-cutting experience ; excellent forklift skills; ability to use measuring and quality-control instruments; basic computer skills; strong communication skills; ability to safely work around heavy steel products.
