Department Overview The full-time annual base salary for this position is $407,648 - $493,608; commensurate with experience and rank. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for variable pay, estimated at $80,830 additional per year. The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is integral to the healthcare, education and research missions at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). We specialize in providing excellent perioperative care and anesthesia services to our patients using state-of-the-art technology and pharmacologic tools with an emphasis on patient safety. As Oregon's only academic health center, we perform the largest number of anesthetic procedures in the state on the most diverse types of surgical cases and procedures. We perform over 75,000 procedures each year in our inpatient adult operating rooms, outpatient operating rooms at the Center for Health & Healing, at Casey Eye Institute, and Doernbecher Children's Hospital. The department is comprised of over 380 members including faculty physicians, resident physicians and certified nurse anesthetists, and is integral to the healthcare, education and research missions at OHSU. Function/Duties of Position Come and join our Neurocritical Care and Neuroanesthesia teams providing tertiary care to neurologically injured patients at OHSU (a 550-bed Magnet hospital and Comprehensive Stroke Center with Level-1 Trauma designation, and the only academic hospital in Oregon). OHSU has a busy neurosurgical service, including functional and epilepsy surgery, as well as a cerebrovascular and skull base program and an intraoperative MRI suite. The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) is a state-of-the-art 17-bed ICU that admits all neurologically injured patients in need of critical care, including patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes, status epilepticus, neuromuscular disorders, and those undergoing neurosurgical and neurointerventional procedures. This creates a practice environment with an excellent mix of surgical and non-surgical ICU patients. Our Neurocritical Care certified NSICU faculty include anesthesiologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons. We are looking for an energetic physician who has completed training in Anesthesiology and Neurocritical Care and wants to join our dynamic team. Clinical : The Neuro-Intensivist/Anesthesiologist works to care for critically ill and injured patients in the various anesthetizing locations throughout the OHSU campus. Education : Teaches trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise. Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. Faculty have a demonstrated competence in teaching and are knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies. (e.g. ACGME competencies). Research : May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. May develop and direct scholarly research activities focused toward improving the educational foundation within anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. Required Qualifications Certification or eligibility for certification in Neurocritical Care is required. Fellowship training in Neuroanesthesia is preferred. Residency training in Anesthesiology and board certification/eligibility in Anesthesiology are required. Demonstrated competence in patient care & teaching are expected.
