Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing operations by developing, improving, and optimizing processes related to forged steel components and precision machined products. This role will focus on process improvement, tooling design, manufacturing documentation, AutoCAD drawing creation, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with production, quality, metallurgy, and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, metallurgy, forging, machining, and heat treatment, along with experience creating detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve manufacturing processes for forged and machined components.
• Design and modify tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing layouts using AutoCAD.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, manufacturing routings, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Evaluate manufacturing methods to improve productivity, quality, and cost.
• Provide technical support for forging, machining, heat treatment, inspection, and finishing operations.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to manufacturing and quality issues.
• Assist with capital equipment projects, process improvements, and new product introductions.
• Work with metallurgical and quality teams to ensure material properties and heat treatment processes meet customer specifications.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
• 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience within a forging, machining, heavy industrial, or metal manufacturing environment.
• Strong AutoCAD experience creating manufacturing drawings and tooling designs.
• Knowledge of machining processes including CNC machining and precision manufacturing.
• Understanding of forging and heat treatment processes.
• Working knowledge of metallurgy, material properties, alloy steels, stainless steels, and mechanical properties.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
• Strong problem solving and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and cross functional collaboration abilities.
