Facilities ManagerThe Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (OAC) manages the City's public art program, cultural partnerships & grants programs, the King Street Station (KSS) gallery, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (LHPAI), and The Creative Advantage initiative. In alignment with the City's Race and Social Justice Initiative, we work to eliminate institutional racism in our programs, policies, and practices.The Facilities Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for OAC's facilities management, long-range planning, and building administration. You will supervise the OAC Facilities team, which supports offices, galleries, event areas, and community spaces at OAC-managed facilities, including LHPAI and KSS. You will help ensure our spaces are safe, welcoming, inclusive, and ready for the community.Job ResponsibilitiesHere is what you'll be doing:Leadership & Operations. Provide management and support for staff performing facilities and maintenance work, including scheduling, workload guidance, coaching, and back-up coverage as needed. Foster a work environment grounded in accountability, collaboration, and respect. Respond to needs related to building use, events, equipment, and rentals, adjusting resources when appropriate.Facility Coordination & Partnerships. Serve as liaison to city partners, building owners, tenants, and community partners. Maintain clear communication regarding onsite issues, system failures, upgrades, and shared facility operations.Safety & Emergency Preparedness. Maintain and update facility evacuation plans and emergency contact information. Make sure staff are trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures. Represent OAC in Citywide emergency planning meetings. Coordinate monthly safety meetings and oversee fleet responsibilities.Systems, Procedures & Conflict Resolution. Develop and implement procedures for building use, rentals, permitting, notifications, and communication standards. Help resolve conflicts over space use and ensure that rental processes align with best practices. Manage OAC's use of the Momentus event-booking software and improve data tracking.Project & Contract Management. Lead facilities-related projects, including strategic planning, contract management, negotiations, and building upgrades. Partner with OAC leadership and Labor Relations teams on union-related negotiations.Major Upcoming Projects You'll Support:Provide leadership and coordination for LHPAI building improvement projects.Lead to completion a long-term operations contract to guide operations at LHPAI, including legislative process coordination, legal review, and partner negotiations.Strengthen shared facility practices with building owners and tenants at King Street Station.To be successful in this role, you demonstrate:Commitment to racial equity and social justice principles.Responsive, people-centered customer service to strengthen shared facility practices and communication across OAC-run facilities.Strong ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality.Skill in leading and developing staff to support a workplace culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and mutual respect.High levels of organization and comfort with ambiguity.Clear and effective communication.Ability to build strong, effective relationships with community partners across diverse backgrounds, needs, and working styles.Ability to prioritize and respond to emerging issues.QualificationsWe know no candidate will meet every qualification, and that's okay.
