Phlebotomist

Position Overview A full‑time Phlebotomist position available on a contract basis. The role involves both clinical phlebotomy and administrative duties, assisting patient care through specimen collection and laboratory support. Schedule & Compensation Hourly rate: $23.00 Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Tuesday‑Saturday Contract length: 3 months Location: National City, CA (various locations) Key Responsibilities Verify test requisitions and alert unit staff to discrepancies. Confirm patient identity by reading identification. Collect blood specimens using venipuncture and fingerstick techniques. Maintain specimen integrity with aseptic technique and isolation protocols. Collect therapeutic drug‑monitoring assays in coordination with nursing personnel. Track specimens, recording collection time, initial, and date. Perform bedside glucose and bleeding‑time tests, recording and reporting results. Follow quality‑control procedures and log results in the quality‑control log. Ensure a safe work environment and comply with legal regulations. Resolve unusual test orders and communicate with physicians, pathologists or reference labs. Maintain ongoing professional development through education and professional organizations. Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies and state/local regulations. Enhance department and hospital reputation through proactive service. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience drawing pediatric and geriatric specimens, including hard‑stick blood draws. Certification or training in phlebotomy preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
