AI/ML Engineer

We're looking for an AI/ML Engineer to join a forward-thinking Software Engineering organisation within a major global automotive OEM. The role is engineering-first — designing, building, and delivering end-to-end AI/ML solutions that solve real engineering and product problems. Engineers in this role contribute across the full lifecycle, from design and development through validation and production handoff, working closely with product teams and the MLOps function. Location: Auburn Hills Contract type: Permanent or freelance Benefits: Competitive package; high-impact, high-visibility role within a major software-defined vehicle programme Responsibilities Design and implement ML models using structured, time-series, and unstructured data Apply AI/ML techniques pragmatically to engineering, quality, and product use cases Build production-ready AI systems including data pipelines, feature engineering, model training and inference services, and integration with downstream systems Develop agentic solutions combining LLMs and other systems Contribute to reusable AI/ML components and shared engineering frameworks Write clean, maintainable, and testable Python code Own implementation tasks from design through deployment readiness Work closely with stakeholders to clarify requirements and iterate solutionsPrepare solutions for operationalisation in partnership with MLOps teams Develop lightweight front-end components or internal tools — dashboards, experimentation interfaces, or demonstration tools — where required Qualifications Strong software engineering fundamentals Practical experience applying machine learning in real production systems Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries Ability to work across data, modelling, and software concerns Degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field Experience with cloud-based data or ML platforms is a plus Experience building agentic solutions is advantageous Familiarity with MLOps concepts — CI/CD for ML, monitoring, retraining — is beneficial Frontend or full-stack experience supporting AI tools is a plus Background in regulated or industrial engineering environments is advantageous Next Steps Click Apply We will review your application.
