Head Lifeguard

Position Summary The State College YMCA is hiring a full-time Head Lifeguard responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment, preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and supervising lifeguard staff. This position also includes teaching swim lessons and assisting with daily pool operations. Primary Responsibilities Lifeguard Supervisor Duties Supervise lifeguard staff and assist with opening and closing procedures. Perform assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks. Test pool water daily and maintain proper chemical levels. Ensure compliance with PA State Bather’s Code and Health Codes. Monitor swimmers and enforce safety rules. Respond to emergencies and perform rescues and first aid as needed. Complete incident reports and communicate issues to the Aquatics Director. Swim Instructor Duties Create a positive, engaging environment for swimmers. Develop and follow structured lesson plans. Take attendance and communicate progress with parents. Enforce all facility rules and safety standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Current lifeguard certification (or ability to obtain certification). Prior experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor preferred.
